The company owning a locally-based seafood processing plant is facing a total of $214,500 in federal fines for alleged health and safety standards deficiencies that regulators say put employees at serious risk for injury or death.

OSHA is the Occupational Safety and Health Administration - an agency which is part of the United States Department of Labor. OSHA is responsible for creating and enforcing regulations which ensure that employees have a workplace free of extraneous hazards that could cause injury, sickness, or death.
